Ashley Orkus Named USL Super League’s Player of the Month for August

TAMPA BAY, Fla. – The USL Super League is just three weeks into its inaugural season, but former Rebel Ashley Orkus has already left her mark on the fresh new professional league. Orkus was named the USL Super League’s Player of the Month for August and was also named as the goalkeeper for the Team of the Month.
Orkus was chosen as Player of the Month after recording 13 saves and a shutout over Tampa Bay Sun FC’s first two matches of the season. Orkus’ 13 saves lead the league and are more than double the second-most (6) through the first three weeks.
The three-time SEC Goalkeeper of the Year recorded her first clean sheet on August 24 against DC Power, where she made seven saves. The biggest moment of the match came in the 89th minute when Orkus denied a penalty kick to preserve the shutout and the point in the scoreless draw.

Orkus was a three-time SEC Goalkeeper of the Year for Ole Miss, playing for the Rebels from 2018-2022. She is the Rebels' all-time leader in career saves and shutouts and finished second in wins by the time she finished.
Orkus and Tampa Bay next play on September 8 in Lexington, Kentucky against former Rebel Marykate McGuire and Lexington SC.
