OXFORD, Miss. – Welcome to the court report, your weekly digest of Ole Miss men's and women's basketball from the SJB Pavilion.
Chris Beard has Ole Miss men's hoops out to a 3-0 start in SEC play for the first time since 2018-19. Click above for a breakdown and a look ahead at the seven marquee opponents coming to Oxford over the final seven home games. Scroll on for a recap of the top moments and more from both men's and women's hoops last week.
Player of the Week: MBB
When SEC play began, Malik Dia took it as a sign to take is game to another level. In three league games, Dia is averaging 15.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, including going for 21 points and eight boards in Wednesday's win over Arkansas, then 19 points and seven rebounds in Saturday's victory versus LSU.
I think it started with Georgia," Dia said. "Just trying to start in first place in the SEC and be very dominant. Just try to show that we're the best team in the SEC and we're going to win the SEC.
Player of the Week: WBB
Kennedy Todd-Williams finished both nights in double-figures this week, including a stunning performance to lead the Rebels to a dominant win over Vanderbilt on Thursday. Todd-Williams went off for a career-high 25 points, which also came as the most by any Ole Miss player this season.
Highlight of the Week
Ole Miss claimed control just out of halftime at Arkansas, but the home-team Hogs were hanging around and cut the lead back to four with just over 10 minutes left. Desperate for some breathing room in front of a hostile 19,200 at Bud Walton Arena, Dia responded with two big buckets, then Sean Pedulla delivered the dagger—a corner three to beat the shot clock, stretch the lead to double figures. After a review, the bucket was good and Ole Miss kept Arkansas at arm's length from there.
