Court Report: Making Statements
1/20/2025 | Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Athletics
What a week at the Tuohy Center as both men's and women's hoops made statements in the third week of Southeastern Conference play. Women's basketball had a perfect run, going 2-0 with a dominant home win over Florida on Thursday and road rivalry win at Mississippi State on Sunday.
Men's hoops made national headlines with a win at No. 4 Alabama on Tuesday and nearly carried that into another road upset of No. 15 Mississippi State, storming back from an early deficit to force overtime but ultimately fell just short.
Scroll on for the top highlights from the action, and a look at another big week ahead.

There's just no overlooking Malik Dia's dominant performance in the biggest road win in program history. After scoring 21 and 19 points in two games the week prior, Dia dropped 21 points and 19 rebounds in the win over Alabama becoming the first Rebel to have 20-plus points and 15-plus rebounds against an AP-ranked opponent since Keith Carter against Temple in 1997.

Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has found a star in freshman Sira Thienou, who went off for 29 points, seven steals and five assists for her 12th game in double figures this season. The Bamako, Mali, native made it 13 with a 10-point performance in Sunday's win at Mississippi State. She nearly made it a double-double with nine steals on the night, the most by a Rebel since 2006.
