Matthew Murrell Enters Top 10 on Ole Miss Scoring List

Senior guard Matthew Murrell added another milestone to his decorated Ole Miss career this past Saturday passing Joe Gibbon for 10th all-time in scoring in program history. Murrell returned to Oxford for a fifth year and has helped guide the Rebels to a (15-3, 4-1 SEC) record so far this season.
Murrell has brought consistent energy to both sides of the floor throughout his time as a Rebel, making an impact on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Among joining the great Ole Miss scorers, Murrell currently sits fifth all-time in three-point field goals made (238), and fifth in career minutes played (3,907).
Murrell sit 10th all-time with 150 career steals and set an Ole Miss and SJB Pavilion record with 10 steals against Troy on Dec. 19, 2023. The 10 steals also tied an SEC record for most in a single game. He also is tied with Zach Graham (2008-11) for the most career games played at 135.
Murrell earned NABC All-District Second Team and All-SEC Second Team honors in 2023-24 behind a team best 16.2 ppg, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. As a junior, he finished second in the SEC in minutes per game (34.2) and led the Rebels in scoring at 14.4 points per game.
Murrell started in 24 of the 31 games his sophomore season and paced the Rebels in three-point field goal percentage. He was one of four players to appear in all 28 games for Ole Miss during his freshman campaign and was named to the SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll.
Ole Miss returns to action this Wednesday in a matchup against No. 13/13 Texas A&M (14-4, 3-2 SEC). Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT at the SJB Pavilion on ESPN2.
