Loan Lestir Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Coming off of a clutch singles victory against Memphis last week, Ole Miss men's tennis' Loan Lestir has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
This accolade marks Lestir's first SEC honor in his young collegiate career and the first of the season for any Ole Miss tennis player.
The Lille, France, native is the first Rebel to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors since Isac Strömberg won it during the 2022-23 season. Additionally, it marks the 15th instance in program history that a Rebel has secured the first-year recognition.
Lestir made his collegiate debut on the road against Memphis and clinched match point for Ole Miss in an exciting three set, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3, match over Michael Kouame. This win marked Lestir's first dual singles win of his collegiate career.
The freshman's victory captured the third team win of the season for Ole Miss and secured the Rebel's first victory over the Tigers since 2012.
The Rebels will return home to host Georgia Southern, Tulane and South Alabama at the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center this weekend on Jan. 25-26. Ole Miss' first match of the weekend will be against the Tulane Waves on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. CT.
