1/6/2025 | Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Athletics

OXFORD, Miss. – Welcome to the court report, your weekly digest of Ole Miss men's and women's basketball from the SJB Pavilion.

Men's basketball's comeback win over Georgia highlighted the weekend, marking a victory for both the men's and women's squads to start SEC play. Scroll on for the latest from inside the Touhy Center.

Quote of the Week
While the first game of SEC play is often about just finding a way to win, the men's hoops team showed progress in victory. The Rebels were outplayed in the second half of their final non-conference outing at Memphis, but Chris Beard's squad flipped the script on Saturday against Georgia, holding the Bulldogs to 23 points and outscoring them by 14 in the second half to win by 12.

I thought above all today, we fought," Beard said after the UGA win. "First half against Memphis, we didn't play our best, but it's a two-point game, then we got out-fought in the second half. Then today, same type of thing, typical of first conference game, a lot of nerves. I thought in the second half, we fought. We fought, we competed. We had some things not go our way today, but we kept fighting. I thought we were the tougher team in the second half.

Highlight of the Week
It was a dominant start to SEC play on Thursday night for Ole Miss women's hoops, who raced past Auburn 85-58 on the road. The Rebels controlled both ends of the floor, with KK Deans and Kennedy Todd-Williams scoring 20 and 19 points, respectively, while Sira Thienou swiped a staggering seven of Ole Miss' 18 steals on the night.
