Men’s Tennis Concludes Day One at the ITA Southern Regional

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Ole Miss men's tennis made some noise in the first round of the ITA Southern Regional in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
In the round of 64 qualifying singles draw, senior Gordon Whitwell and sophomore Kai Milburn competed in the singles draw.
Whitwell defeated Ritabrata Sarkar, 6-1,6-1, and Milburn defeated Yin Chih Lan, 6-4,6-4, as both advanced to the singles qualifying round of 32. Both Milburn and Whitwell fell short in the qualifying round of 32.
Freshman Pietro Pampanin, sophomore Matthieu Chambonniere and freshman Isac Strömberg began their matches in the first round of the singles main draw.
Pampanin defeated Arnav Pathange of Alabama A&M, 6-1,7-5, Chambonniere defeated Piotr Andrzejewski of Tulane, 6-4,6-2. Strömberg defeated Calin Stirbu of LSU, 6-3,6-4. All three moved on to the second round of the singles main draw, which will take place tomorrow.
Two other Rebels also competed in the singles main draw and advanced. Senior Noah Schlagenhauf defeated Marko Milosavljevic of Jacksonville State, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. While freshman Stefano D'Agostino defeated Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes of Mississippi State 6-4, 7-6,(7-4).
All five Rebels will return to play tomorrow and look to advance to the round of sixteen in singles.
