Women’s Tennis Wraps up Day Three at ITA Southern Regional

AUBURN, Ala. -  Ole Miss women's tennis finished the day with a combined record of 5-5 on day three of the ITA Southern Regional in Auburn, Alabama, on Wednesday.

Rebels Emily Welker, Brooklyn Olson and Alicé Soulie participated in the Round of 16 in the main singles bracket of the three; Welker was the only one to advance to the Quarterfinal.
 
Welker played Kenna Erickson of LSU in the Round of 16 to start her day. She won, 6-0, 6-0. Tomorrow, she will take on Alice Battesti of Auburn in the Quarterfinals at 9 a.m.
 
Freshman Riley Crowder participated in a pick-up match versus Nera Tesankic of UAB; however, Crowder fell short in her match against Tesankic.
 
All of the Rebels' doubles pairings played in the Round of 16 of the main draw. The doubles teams were, Andrea Nova and Welker, Ichino Horikawa and Soulie, and Olson and Crowder.
 
Andrea Nova and Emily Welker would face off against Kenna Erickson and Florentine Dekkers of LSU. Nova and Welker were able to defeat Erickson and Dekkers, 8-4, to move on to the next round.
 
In their Quarterfinals match, Nova and Welker faced Athina Pitta and Mia Robinson of Mississippi State. They won, 8-3, to move on to the Semifinals, where they will play Amina Salibayeva and Addison Bowman of Alabama.
 
In the Round of 16, Horikawa and Soulie would play Salome Fluri and Alexa Martinez Mendoza of McNeese State. The pair defeated Fluri and Mendoza, 8-2, to move on in the doubles bracket.
 
Horikawa and Soulie then matched up against Summer Chandler and Micah Pierce of Tulane, where the pair of Rebels' doubles run came to an end.
 
Brooklyn Olson and Riley Crowder faced off against Aneka Patel and Polina Ramenskaja of Jacksonville State in their Round of 16 and defeated them, 8-6, to advance to the Quarterfinals.
 
In the next round, Olson and Crowder faced off against Zara Larke and Kristina Paskauskas from Alabama, where they came up just short of advancing to the semifinals.
