Soccer Downed in Magnolia Cup Battle Against No. 13 Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Ole Miss came up short Thursday in Starkville, falling 0-2 against No. 13 Mississippi State. The Bulldogs found offensive life late, scoring a pair of goals in the final 13 minutes.
The first half saw neither side find their way into the scoring column as State held the advantage in shots 6-3. Ole Miss found life offensively, drawing a penalty opportunity in the 37th minute.
Marieke Ten Brink stood over the PK attempt but was denied by keeper Sarah Wommack.
Mississippi State would continue the offensive pursuit taking the 1-0 lead in the 77th minute off the foot of Naila Schoefberger. The Bulldogs would find their second goal in the 82nd minute from Ally Perry.
Ole Miss (4-5-1, 0-4-1 SEC) returns to action Sunday against No. 5 Tennessee (10-1-1, 4-1-1 SEC). Kickoff in Oxford is set for 2 p.m. CT with Will Kollmeyer (pxp), Ian Banner (analyst) and Loral Winn (sideline) on the call for SEC Network+.
It will be the annual Mental Health Awareness match as fans are encouraged to wear green.
