Men's Basketball's Offense Shows Elite Efficiency in Win Over Kentucky

2/5/2025 | Men's Basketball

On Tuesday, the Ole Miss men's basketball team collected a prodigious victory over No. 14 Kentucky 98-84 in the SJB Pavilion behind a near perfect showing from a key component of their offense, posting 24 assists with just one turnover.

The team's 24 assists were the second-most the Rebels have had in a game this season, with the one turnover being a season-low. Ole Miss' performance moved their season average to 8.9 turnovers per game, the lowest mark in the country, with their assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.77 now ranking fifth in all of college basketball.

A major catalyst for the Ole Miss offense against the Wildcats was Jaylen Murray, who scored 15 points and dished out 10 assists with zero turnovers. It was the senior point guard's second double-double of his Ole Miss career.

The ratio of 24 to one for assists to turnovers was the highest any team has posted in a game this season, and the highest ratio since 2019.

Ole Miss will hit the road for their next game, as they travel to Baton Rouge for a Saturday matchup with LSU on February 8 at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
