5/6/2025 | Women's Golf

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 16 Ole Miss women's golf team sits in fourth place overall at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional after 36 holes of play.

The Rebels shot a 6-over, 290, on Tuesday, and head into the third and final round at 572 (+4), seven strokes clear of the five-team cut line.

After 54 holes, the top five teams, as well as the top individual from a non-advancing team, will advance to the NCAA Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 16-21.

Three Rebels currently rank inside the top 10 individually, including redshirt freshman Filippa Sundquist. Sundquist tallied a second round 72 (+1) on Tuesday and sits tied for fifth overall at a two-day total of 141 (-1). After being even par thru the front nine, Sundquist sandwiched two birdies between a double-bogey on No. 12 and 17. The Kullavik, Sweden, native rebounded on No. 18, sinking a 45-foot putt for birdie to close out her round. It was one of just six birdies made on No. 18 so far through the first two rounds.

Nicole Gal recorded the best round of the day for the Rebels on Tuesday with a 1-under, 70 and is tied for seventh. The junior from Oakville, Ontario, played her best golf on the back nine at Birdwood Golf Course. After a birdie on No. 12, Gal nearly aced the par-3, No. 7, hitting it within three feet. She would go on to tap in for birdie. Gal leads the field in par-3 scoring (2.80).

Kajsalotta Svarvar followed up her first round 68 (-3) with a 3-over, 74, on Tuesday and is in seventh place individually. Svarvar started her day with eight straight pars before a bogey at No. 9. The Halmstad, Sweden, native, went bogey, bogey, birdie, bogey, par on her final five holes to get into the clubhouse at 3-over. She is tied for second in the field with nine birdies through two rounds.

Sophie Linder and Caitlyn Macnab were also both in action for Ole Miss, each registering a 3-over, 74, during the second round. Linder is currently tied for 30th at 5-over (147) for the regional, while Macnab is in 51st at 154 (+12).

Ole Miss will wrap up the third and final round on Wednesday, looking to qualify for the NCAA Championship for the sixth time in program history. The Rebels will tee off from hole 10, beginning at 7 a.m. CT.
