Ole Miss Athletics Finishes 27th in Learfield Directors’ Cup
7/1/2025 | Athletics
CLEVELAND – Following an historic athletics season, Ole Miss finished at No. 27 in the 2024-25 Learfield Directors' Cup standings, which honors college athletics success across all sports.
Points are awarded based on the institution's finish in NCAA Championships, and the Rebels amassed 783.25 points. This marks the third time Ole Miss placed 27th or better in the Cup's history and all in the last five years under the leadership of Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter.
"This past season was another remarkable chapter for Ole Miss Athletics, as we continue to raise the bar for consistent departmental excellence," Carter said. "This result simply reaffirms our broad-based commitment to compete and win at a championship level. It was inspiring to watch so many of our teams advance in NCAA postseason play this year, and we're excited to see which group of Rebel student-athletes break through and bring home our next national title."
Ole Miss' point total was highlighted by a pair of top-four national finishes in men's golf and rifle. The softball team's first appearance in the Women's College World Series earned a top-eight showing, while men's track & field placed eighth in the outdoor season and 10th in the indoor.
Other squads that advanced in postseason play included men's basketball (Sweet 16), women's basketball (Sweet 16), women's golf (championship round), men's cross country (championship round) and volleyball (second round), while the football team capped its third 10-win season in the last four years with a victory in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.
This year's ranking is Ole Miss' best since posting a 20th-place finish in 2021-22, which stands as the highest ever for a school from Mississippi. That came on the heels of the Rebels' No. 22 rank following the 2020-21 campaign. Prior to this recent run of success, Ole Miss recorded only five top-50 finishes and two top-40 since the launch of the Directors' Cup in 1994.
On the heels of two national championships and five third-place finishes, Texas took home its fourth crown in the Learfield Directors' Cup. A mere 4.25 points separated first, second and third place in the final standings, with the Longhorns edging out USC and Stanford.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.
