Rifle Class Preview: Freshmen
9/30/2025 | Rifle
OXFORD, Miss. – With less than one week before the upcoming 2025-26 rifle season, OleMissSports.com will highlight each member of the squad ahead of the season opener at UTEP on Saturday, Oct. 4, in El Paso, beginning with the newest members of the team, the freshmen.
Savannah Criddle and Jadyn Morgan both journeyed to Oxford by way of California. Criddle and Morgan already have deep-rooted chemistry, having competed with and against each other in California since a young age.
Criddle, a native of Marysville, California, competed with Sutter Union High School prior to joining the Rebels. One of the most competitive high school rifle programs in the nation, she helped lead Sutter Union to first place finishes at the 2024 CMP Junior 3PAR Western Regional Tournament and the Orion Air League in 2023.
She contributed to her high school setting the national high school record for 4-position smallbore, scoring a 392 for a team score of 1581 in the event. In 2023, Criddle was named team MVP by her coaches and teammates. Additionally, she has experience at the international level, having competed in the Junior Olympic Rifle Championships, where she faced several of her new Ole Miss teammates and college competitors.
Morgan, hailing from Yuba City, California, earned three letters while participating with Sutter Union. She placed first in the 2023 Aggregate Marksman in smallbore and won the Aggregate Expert Overall Championship the following year. Like Criddle, Morgan contributed to Sutter setting the national record for the NRA 40 shot 4-man smallbore match.
During the 2023-24 season, Morgan was named air rifle MVP by her teammates and coaches. That same year, she helped Sutter claim a league championship while taking the silver medal in the Air Rifle State Championship.
Ole Miss' freshmen will look to make an immediate impact on head coach Will Shaner's first season at the helm. Ole Miss is set to commence the new season at UTEP on Oct. 4, with the match set for 10 a.m. CT.
Rebel fans will get their first chance to catch the freshmen and the entire rifle squad at the home opener against Murray State on Oct. 25.
