Men’s Tennis’ Run at SEC Championship Comes to an End

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 25 Ole Miss men's tennis' time at the 2026 SEC Championship has come to an end in the second round, as No. 13 South Carolina defeated the Rebels, 4-1, on Thursday afternoon.
The Rebels (19-9, 6-8 SEC) put up a gutsy fight against the Gamecocks (16-7, 8-6 SEC), but ultimately fell short of advancing.
In doubles, Matthieu Chambonniere and Benjamin Martin earned their 18th doubles win as a duo, which ties for the most by a Rebel pair this season, after defeating their Gamecock opponents, 6-4. The other two courts would not go Ole Miss' way, giving South Carolina the early advantage.
In singles play, Vlado Jankanj got the only point for the Rebels in straight sets on court four, 6-4, 6-4. Jankanj now improves his singles winning streak to five which is the current longest by an Ole Miss player.
Courts one, two and six were earned by the Gamecocks to secure the 4-1 win over the Rebels. Pietro Pampanin was beginning to fight back after dropping his first set, but the match went unfinished, 5-7, 4-3. Noah Schlagenhauf forced a first set against his opponent on court five, but play halted with a score of 5-7, 6-0, 1-2.
The Rebels will await their postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show, scheduled for Monday, April 27 at 4 PM CT on NCAA.com.
