OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss Soccer fell 4-0 to No. 3 Vanderbilt on Thursday night at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
Sydney Watts opened the scoring for the Commodores (9-0-1, 2-0-1 SEC) in the 22nd minute, finishing a play set up by Megan Hinnenkamp and Courtney Jones. Ole Miss (7-4-0, 0-3-0 SEC) responded with two chances from Ava Ghoreishi, including a shot on goal that forced a save from Vanderbilt goalkeeper Alexa Gianoplus in the 26th minute.
Mia Hebert doubled Vanderbilt's lead with an unassisted goal at 29:09. Isabella Pontieri nearly answered less than a minute later, but Gianoplus stopped her attempt to preserve the Commodores' 2-0 lead. Pontieri added another shot before halftime as the Rebels finished the opening period with five attempts and three corner kicks.
Vanderbilt extended its lead in the 66th minute when Olivia Stafford scored off an assist from Melania Fullerton. Hebert rounded out the scoring at the 72-minute mark with her second goal of the match.
The Commodores finished with a 16-7 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. Both teams earned five corner kicks. Ghoreishi and Pontieri led Ole Miss with two shots apiece and accounted for the Rebels' two attempts on target.
Taylor Prigge played all 90 minutes in goal and notched three saves.
Ole Miss remains at home to face Texas on Sunday at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT, with the match streaming on SEC Network+.
