Ole Miss Athletes Honored

OXFORD, Miss. - Senior soccer player Sara Schauberger and sophomore cross country performer Matthew Carter were named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District Fall/Winter At-Large Teams.
Schauberger, who registers a perfect 4.00 grade point average in Marketing, was the top vote getter on the women's all-district team and the only one to have a perfect GPA.
A native of Russellville, Ky., Schauberger played in 18 games this year and started one. She has seen action at defender, forward or midfielder for the back-to-back SEC Western Division Champions. Schauberger scored the game winner in a 1-0 victory over Tennessee in the 1999 SEC Tournament.
Schauberger, a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, was named to the 1999 GTE Academic All-District Team. She attends Ole Miss on four academic scholarships.
Carter, a member of the cross country and track and field teams, holds a 3.38 grade point average in Management Information Systems. The Marietta, Ga., native was the No. 2 runner for the Rebel cross country team behind senior Chad Dixon. He finished 28th at the SEC Championships with a time of 26:40.20.
Schauberger and Carter will be eligible for the national teams along with members from the other districts.
