Conference Call to be at Ole Miss, March 31
March 27, 2000
OXFORD, Miss. - Never at a loss for words, University of Mississippi sports fans can speak their minds throughout the South when the United Sports Talk Network hosts "Conference Call" on the Oxford campus March 31.
The call-in radio show, which features coverage of Southeastern Conference athletics, will be broadcast live from the Student Union plaza from 5-8 p.m. Regular show host Max Howell asks questions, takes calls and gets comments from guests and passersby.
Tasty barbeque dinners will be served on the patio during the show to raise money for the Buonicoti Fund to cure paralysis. Proceeds from the $5 per plate dinners will be donated in memory of Chucky Mullins, an Ole Miss football player, and Derrick Thomas of the University of Alabama.
Prior to the show, Howell will try his hand as a "celebrity chef" in the Student Union food court from 11 a.m.-noon.
The events will help celebrate the beginning of spring and promote Grove Bowl 2000, the annual spring intrasquad football game played April 1 at 1:30 in Vaught-Hemmingway Stadium.
The radio show and barbeque are being sponsored by the Ole Miss Student Programming Board, Residence Hall Association, Student Union, Campus Dining Services and Aramark Corporation. In case of bad weather, events will be held in the Student Union lobby.
