Women's Sports Awareness Week
March 30, 1998
OXFORD, Miss. -- For the second consecutive year, Ole Miss will hold Women's Sports Awareness Week on the campus from Mar. 30 through Apr. 6.
The week's activities will include several athletic events, a visit from former Lady Rebel basketball assistant coach and player Peggie Gillom and a panel seminar on women's athletics.
"We hope our second Women's Sports Awareness Week will be a time to promote community support for our women's athletic programs," said Derek Horne, Ole Miss Assistant Athletic Director. "The schedule for the week includes not only a variety of sporting events, but also an educational and entertaining discussion on women's athletics at Ole Miss over the last two decades. I encourage everyone to come out for these events and celebrate with us the accomplishments of our female student-athletes."
On Friday, Apr. 3, Ole Miss will hold a panel seminar in the team meeting room of the Michael S. Starnes Training Center at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend to seminar which will focus on the changes in women's athletics over the past two decades.
