Ole Miss Lands 41 on 2003 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss placed 41 student-athletes on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2003 spring semester, as announced Wednesday by league commissioner Mike Slive.

Ole Miss baseball players selected to the list include Josh Christian, Clint Farrar, Alan Horne, Burnie Hutchinson, Nathan Lyons, Glen Morris, Matt Mossberg, J.R. Pickens, Drew Rogers and Matt Tolbert.

Softball honorees are Julie Baumann, Andrea Brahs, Leslie Day, Britte Hardy, Megan Kozar, Desiree Layman, Lindsay Price and Lindsey Whatley.

Among those chosen from men's track and field are Brett Canale, Marcus Christoffersen, Antwon Hicks and Walt Sligh.

Women's track and field recipients are Candice Cattron, Chika Chuka, Amanda Harvey and Jennifer Jones.

Men's tennis honorees are Alex Hartman and Martin Selin.

Women's tennis lands six on the Honor Roll with Florencia Basile, Agathe Derouck, Camilla Gould, Karem Harboe, Sabrina Peppl and Mira Radu.

Those selected from men's golf include Tommy Clement, Bryan Kane, Josh Kelley and David Shields.

Women's golf has three athletes honored in Lisha Beyer, Lori Cate and Elizabeth Hoffman.

Student-athletes honored on the 2003 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll were selected based on grades from the 2001-02 academic calendar.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the past year of their career, be a sophomore or higher in academic classification, and have 24 hours countable toward a degree.
