Three Lady Rebels Named To Verizon Academic All-District Team

OXFORD, Miss. - Elizabeth Hoffman, Mira Radu and Maranda Stockton earned recognition for their contributions in the classroom this week, as the three Lady Rebels were named to the Verizon Academic All-District team.
Hoffman was named to the first team, while Radu and Stockton were named to the second team.
"We are very proud of what these young ladies have accomplished as student-athletes here at Ole Miss," said Lynnette Johnson, Associate Athletic Director/Senior Women's Administrator. "These young women have shown what it takes to be a well rounded student athlete with success on the field of competition and in the classroom. We place as much emphasis on being good students as well as being good athletes at Ole Miss and these women have accomplished that."
Hoffman, a senior on the women's golf team posted a 3.87 GPA during her collegiate career, majoring in English while minoring in Business. The Kingwood, Texas, native recently became the first student-athlete at Ole Miss inducted into Phi Beta Kappa academic honorary, as well as being named to the 2000-01 SEC Academic Honor Roll. She was also recently named as a finalist for the H. Boyd McWhorter, Scholar Athlete of the Year award for the SEC. Hoffman is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key National Honor Society. The senior led her team in stroke average this past season and helped push the team to a 70-60-2 record and its first tournament title in three years at the Beacon Woods Invitational, where she tied for sixth.
Hoffman will be placed on the national ballot with a chance to be named to the national Verizon Academic All-America team.
Mira Radu, a junior on the women's tennis team, has posted a 3.55 GPA in her three years at Ole Miss majoring in International Business. A native of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Radu has earned Academic All-SEC honors, as well as being named to the Chancellor's Honor Roll, Dean's Honor Roll and the UMAA Honor Roll. The junior has been selected to compete in the NCAA Championships as an individual this season after posting a 33-15 record and reaching as high as a No. 15 national ranking.
Stockton, a sophomore with the women's rifle team, notched a 3.78 GPA in Psychology in her two years at Ole Miss. She was named to the Verizon Academic All-District second team along with Radu. Stockton served as team captain of the rifle squad this past season and was elected by her teammates to serve as captain again next season. Stockton is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and has earned Academic All-SEC honors two years in a row. The Livingston, Tenn., native also earned recognition for her efforts in the classroom when she was named as a recipient of the All-Academic Collegiate Coaches Award at the NCAA Championships.
The District VI All-Academic team represents student-athletes from all NCAA Division I schools in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
