Ole Miss Campus Cable Launches College Sports Southeast
June 13, 2001
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The University of Mississippi Campus Cable System has become the latest cable system to give its viewers a front row seat to college sports action with the launch of College Sports Southeast -- the only regional sports network in America dedicated solely to the coverage of college athletics.
College Sports Southeast is a 24-hour per day, seven-day per week regional sports network. Ole Miss campus cable customers can now find College Sports Southeast on Channel 22.
Launched in August of 1999, College Sports Southeast is now available to homes in a nine-state area across the southeast. CSSE produces original programming, including college athletic events, a signature nightly news program -- College Sports Central -- and other original programs like "This Week in the Sun Belt Conference" and "This Week in College Baseball." This year CSSE produced over 40 live and tape-delayed college football games, over 100 college basketball games, and over 70 college baseball games.
In all, CSSE produced over 270 sporting events during the 2000-2001 athletic year, including early round action of the SEC women's basketball tournament and SEC baseball tournament. Ole Miss events on CSSE during the past year included replays of the Rebels' football games against Auburn and Alabama, a volleyball match against Alabama, a live men's basketball game vs. Southeastern Louisiana, live women's basketball games against Mississippi State and South Carolina, three regular season baseball games against Auburn and live SEC baseball tournament games vs. Tennessee, LSU and Florida.
College Sports Central, airing nightly at 6:30 p.m. Central, 7:30 p.m. Eastern, is the only college sports news show of its kind. Hosted by Doug Bell and Kevin Henslee, College Sports Central provides the latest breaking news in sports across the southeast, feature stories, injury reports and previews of upcoming athletic events.
College Sports Southeast has been a pioneer in producing time-shifted sporting events, including live and next-day broadcasts of SEC, ACC, Sun Belt, Southland and other conference events, and numerous other tape-delayed telecasts when live broadcasts are otherwise unavailable.
College Sports Southeast broadcasts an extensive archive of games of historical significance, including Southeastern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference football and men's basketball games from past years.
