Ole Miss Places 31 on SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss placed 31 student-athletes on the 2004 SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll, which was announced Thursday by league commissioner Mike Slive.
The Rebel football team led the way with eight selections, including Charles Clark, Thomas Eckers, Jeremy Garrett, Darryl Harris, Robert Hough, Robert Lane, Trumaine McBride and Patrick Willis.
The men's and women's track teams produced five honorees - Shannon Chandler, Carolyn Hill, Micah Pioreck, Amanda Tackett and Stephen Taylor.
Ole Miss baseball players Justin Brashear, Justin Henry, Alexander Kliman, and Alex Presley made the list, as did soccer players Ashley Ferree, Sammi Gould, Mary Robinson and Ann Shelton.
Mary Jane Callahan, Vanessa Gibbs and Brittany Warner represented the Rebel softball team on the Honor Roll, while Kristen Carroll, Jennifer McGowan and Jillian Ohrman are award winners from the volleyball squad.
The Honor Roll also included men's basketball player Todd Abernethy, women's basketball player Ashley Awkward and women's golfers Katie Davidson and Adrienne White. A total of 427 freshmen student-athletes were named to the 2004 SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll, which is in its first year of being awarded. The list is based on grades from the 2003-04 academic calendar.
