OXFORD, Miss. - Joel Weems has been named compliance coordinator, Ole Miss Director of Athletics Pete Boone announced Thursday. This is Weems' second stint with the Ole Miss athletic department, as he served as an intern in the sports information office from 1995-97.
"Joel is an outstanding addition to our compliance staff," said David Wells, Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Services. "He is a mature young man who has diverse athletic experience at several NCAA institutions. He is an avid follower of college athletics and deeply committed to Ole Miss.
"Besides his experiences in athletics and private business, Joel has some strong computer skills and has participated in several NCAA compliance educational programs which will greatly benefit our compliance monitoring and assist our coaches, student-athletes and alumni in their efforts to comply with NCAA and SEC regulations."
Weems' responsibilities will include monitoring compliance records and documenting recruiting, financial aid, and practice and competition activities.
