Ole Miss Athletic Department To Hold Food Drive
November 10, 1998
OXFORD, Miss. - The University of Mississippi's athletic department has announced that it is holding a food drive for the Oxford Food Pantry, which is being sponsored by the M-Club.
The Ole Miss athletic department will accept donations at all campus athletic buildings and at the Rebel men's and women's basketball games in an effort to collect food before the Thanksgiving holidays. "It is very satisfying to see that our young men and women of the M-Club are working to give something back to the less fortunate in our community," said Ole Miss Athletic Director John Shafer. "We are extremely proud of their efforts."
Fans who bring two food items to the Lady Rebel basketball team's Nov. 22 home game against Florida Atlantic University will be provided free admission to the game.
The athletic department will also accept canned food donations at the gate of the men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Monday Nov. 16 and the men's Nov. 23 game against Alabama A&M.
The M-Club is a group made up of Ole Miss student-athletes who promote team camaraderie through servicing the community. The most needed food items are cooking oil, shortening, canned meats, and fruits.
