BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southeastern Conference recognized 16 student-athletes at the University of Mississippi for their efforts in the classroom on Wednesday, naming them to the 2003 Freshman Academic Honor Roll.

"We're very excited any time that our student-athletes can be recognized for their efforts in the classroom," said Karen Schiferl, Associate Athletics Director for Academic Support. "The freshman year is a huge transition for a student-athlete. I'm proud to see these student-athletes were able to make that transition and achieve success on the field and in the classroom."

The 2003 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2002-03 academic calendar.
