Kuhl Tutor Scholarship Information

Program Guidelines
The Kuhl Tutor Scholar Award Program selects the most influential and inspiring FedEx Student-Athlete Success Center tutor each year to receive a one (1) year tuition/scholarship to use at any college in the University of Mississippi system. Prospective tutors will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Overall undergraduate/graduate academic record
  • Ability to relate to the student-athlete population
  • Written statement (500 words or less) or 2 min video
  • The impact the tutor has made on a student-athlete's academic progress, overall improvement in initiative, attitude and/or responsiveness.
  • Tutor must have completed 2 consecutive semesters of work and must have worked as a tutor at FedEx prior to applying for the scholarship.
  • Tutor must complete the entire following semester with the FedEx Success Center. Tutor must remain in good standing to be reimbursed at the end of each semester of employment.

Submitting an Application (Please read through the instructions below.)
Applicants should apply for all scholarships for which they are eligible; however, only one scholarship may be awarded to an applicant in an academic year. Additionally, please note applicants can only receive two scholarships in a lifetime. Please indicate if you have received the award previously on the top of the application.

Scholars Award Program Necessary Materials

2. Personal statement giving reasons why the applicant qualifies for a scholarship.
(Not to exceed 500 typed words.)
    • "What does it mean to be a good tutor?"
    • "How will this scholarship help me reach my career goals?"
    • "What characteristics exemplify that of a great tutor?"
    • Candidates may submit a videotaped message no longer than 2 mins in length (Optional)
       
3. A maximum of two letters of recommendation will be accepted from:
    • A professor, employer, or FedEx Student-Athlete Success Center official not on the Kuhl Tutor Scholars Award committee.
      • The letter should provide information about the applicant's contributions to the FedEx Student-Athlete Success Center.
      • The letter should provide information about the applicant's professional promise and personal characteristics.
4. Candidates may submit a videotaped message no longer than 2 minutes in length. (Optional)
