AGENTS

As defined by the NCAA, an agent is any individual who, directly or indirectly:

(a) Represents or attempts to represent an individual for the purpose of marketing his or her athletics ability or reputation for financial gain; or
(b) Seeks to obtain any type of financial gain or benefit from securing a prospective student-athlete's enrollment at an educational institution or from a student-athlete's potential earnings as a professional athlete.

Agents are defined by what they do and not what they call themselves.  Advisors, financial advisors, marketing representatives, and brand managers are all considered agents under NCAA rules.

The Mississippi Uniform Athlete Agent Act and the University of Mississippi Name, Image and Likeness Policy require any individual (e.g., agent, advisor, marketing representative) representing Ole Miss student-athletes to register with both the Secretary of State and the Ole Miss compliance office prior to contacting student-athletes or family members of student-athletes.
