Jerseys to Suits Networking Night
Ole Miss Athletics and the University of Mississippi Career Center invites companies and UM graduate school programs to an interactive networking experience specifically with our student-athletes. This event is held every Fall semester and takes place the evening before the Career Expo. During the event, employers will network and discuss internship and career opportunities within their company with our student-athletes.

Compliance Bylaws for Student-Athlete Employment
Thank you for expressing interest in following up with our student-athletes in regards to potential internship and/or full-time positions within your company. As a reminder, NCAA regulations permit a student-athlete to receive legitimate earnings from on- or off-campus employment at any time during the year, provided:
- The student-athlete is compensated only for work actually performed;
- The student-athlete is compensated at a rate commensurate with the locality’s standard rate for the type of work being performed; and
- The compensation does not include any remuneration for the additional value a student-athlete provides for an employer as a result of the student-athlete’s publicity, reputation, fame or personal following.
- Student-athletes may not promote or endorse the business they are working with using their name, image or likeness (this prohibition includes on social media)
- Businesses may not use the name, image or likeness of any student-athlete in any advertising, promotion or other means
- Extra benefits:
o Not permitted to provide anything to, or make any special arrangements for, a student-athlete (or his/her family or friends) because of their status as a student-athlete that is not generally available to the rest of the students at the University
o Extra Benefits Examples (not an exhaustive list. If you have questions, please ask):
• Cash, gifts, airline tickets, meals
• Loans, co-signing for a loan, deferred loan payments (e.g. pay amount later)
• Use of an automobile or free rides/transportation
• Arrangement for employment or housing for your relatives or friends
• Use of an individual’s personal property (home, boat, etc.)
• Free or reduced cost housing
• Discounts or special payment arrangements
• Selling your gear, apparel, awards, etc. or trading them for something of value
See below for the related NCAA bylaws:
12.4.1 Criteria Governing Compensation to Student-Athletes. Compensation may be paid to a student-athlete: [R] (Revised: 11/22/04, 4/19/19 for violations occurring on or after 4/19/19)
(a) Only for work actually performed; and
(b) At a rate commensurate with the going rate in that locality for similar services.
12.4.1.1 Athletics Reputation. Such compensation may not include any remuneration for value or utility that the student-athlete may have for the employer because of the publicity, reputation, fame or personal following that he or she has obtained because of athletics ability.
