Joe Swingle joined the Ole Miss athletics leadership in July 2012 and serves as Senior Associate A.D. for Facilities and Capital Projects.
Swingle also serves as the sport administrator for men's basketball and tennis.
He previously oversaw the departments of athletic facilities, sports turf, game operations and premium areas from 2012-2021.
In this role, Swingle is also overseeing the Facilities Master Plan portion of the Forward Together campaign that was unveiled August 2011. Multiple projects have either been completed or are underway, including the $96.5 million new construction of the Pavilion at Ole Miss in 2016, $11.3 million renovation of The Olivia and Archie Manning Athletics Performance Center in 2014, and continuous renovations and expansion of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium including the new Lloyd Bell Tower and Jake Gibbs Walk of Champions completed 2018.
Other projects supervised have been the $7.3 million Track and Field Complex in 2016, the $5.4 million Football Practice Fields in 2016, a $13.8 million renovation of Gillom Sports Center in 2017, $7.8 million new construction of the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center in 2017 and the $3.2 million expansion of the Golf Practice Facility. He also serves on many campus committees ranging from Campus Sustainability, Facilities Planning, Incident Response Team to Gameday Committee as well as being active in NACDA and CEFMA organizations.
Prior to his work with the Rebels, Swingle served as Director of Facilities at Arkansas. During his seven-year tenure in Fayetteville, he oversaw all areas of facility management, including supervision of the facility operations staff, day-to-day operations of the facilities and preparing the venues for all Razorback and any special events. Before coming to Arkansas, Swingle was the director of event management at Iowa State for two years. He was assistant director of game operations at the University of Missouri from 2000 until 2002.
Swingle graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a bachelor's degree in physical education in 1994 and earned his master's in physical education from Arkansas Tech in 1997. He also did doctoral work at UA from 1997 through 2000.
A native of Carthage, Mo., Swingle is married to the former Karen Hoepfl of Paragould, Ark., and the couple has three children, Molly, Jack and Grayson.
