Julia Koogler joined the Fedex Student-Athlete Success Center staff in August of 2024 as a Learning Specialist for Academic Enrichment. She is responsible for providing assistance to academically at-risk student-athletes. She helps develops, manages, implements, and monitors strategic study programs, to include mentoring and tutoring sessions for student-athletes, assesses the needs of at-risk student-athletes, and develops strategic study plans.
In 2023, Koogler published a research paper “The Importance of Sport Psychology Programs at the Collegiate Level” with the Journal of Psychiatry Research Reviews and Reports. She also published an extended version of this research paper as a book chapter for “Recent Updates in Disease and Health Research Vol. 7”.
Prior to the Fedex Student-Athlete Success Center, she was a Success Coach for the School of Applied Sciences Office of Graduate Student Success here at Ole Miss. She joined SAS in August 2023 where she was dedicated to helping online graduate students with academic, personal, and career goals. She provided guidance to support students intellectually, emotionally, socially, and culturally, in order to assist them in maximizing their college experience and reach their goals after graduation.
Koogler graduated from Tennessee State in 2023 with a Masters of Education in Arts and Science in Human Performance and Sports Science earning a 3.8 GPA. She was a Graduate Assistant for TSU Athletics Academic Services for 2 years. She was responsible for managing study hall, aiding with academic progress, and mental health resources for student-athletes. She implemented a successful at-risk program for student-athletes. During her time at TSU, she worked with all athletic teams, but focused on football where she help increased the team GPA from a 2.2 to a 2.9 in her first year.
She attended Lincoln Memorial University from 2015-2019 where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She played soccer and lacrosse for the Railsplitters. During her time at LMU, she was a Student Representative on the LMU Board and was the voice of students for campus changes. She was also an assistant for the Health and Wellness Program and was a member of the Alumni Association Board.
