Charlie Ball began her career in 2009 as an academic intern at the University of Mississippi. Ball was promoted in 2010 to tutorial coordinator, learning specialist in 2012, assistant director in 2013, associate director in 2015 and her current title of Assistant A.D. in 2019. She is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations for the academic enrichment side of Student-Athlete Development, which includes the tutorial program, campus tutorial partnerships, payroll, hiring part time staff members, mentoring program, Rebel Reading program, R.E.B.S. Summer Bridge Program, math and writing labs, testing and accommodations and five learning specialists along with a graduate assistant, while also maintaining a student caseload. She was a 2013 participant of the N4A’s Professional Development Institute: Learning Specialist Track. Ball is also a member of the Learning Enhancement and Concerns Committee with N4A and a participant of the 2019 Women Leaders in College Sports Institute of Administrative Advancement East. Ball is a recipient of the University of Mississippi’s Overall Outstanding Staff Member Award for 2019.  

Prior to her move into the academic setting, Ball served as a graduate assistant for recreational services at Jackson State University. While at Jackson State, Ball helped create the building and program layout for child care services for patrons participating in recreational sports programming. Ball also took over member services, payroll duties and assisting with overseeing all building supervisors. 

Ball got her start in athletics as a marketing intern for women sports at Mississippi State University, while working as a building supervisor at the Joe Frank Sanderson Center. Her duties included promoting women’s sports, assisting with daily facility operations and event set up. 

Ball attended Alcorn State University and later graduated from Mississippi State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in physical education. Ball will graduate from the University of Mississippi in May 2020 with a Master of Art in Higher Education and Student Personnel. The Foxworth, Mississippi native has two sons, Albert and Cedric, Jr.
