OXFORD, Miss. - Lori LaCoursiere's goal with 10 minutes remaining in the game lifted the San Diego State Aztecs to a 2-1 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels Sunday afternoon.
Ole Miss falls to 12-8 overall for the season, while the Aztecs improve to 14-5.
"San Diego State is a good team. They made it to the NCAA Sweet 16 last year and we played them very well today," Ole Miss head coach Steve Holeman said. "It's a disappointing loss, but we had a very successful season and broke a lot of records. Now we can turn our attention to the SEC Tournament and our game against Tennessee."
San Diego State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when Kaycee McElree scored with a header off a corner kick.
Ole Miss freshman Bridget Brooks tied the game at 1-1 in the 35th minute with her 16th goal of the season. Senior Amaris Weeks picked up the assist on Brooks' game-tying goal.
The Rebels will now prepare for the first round of the SEC Tournament to be played at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. Ole Miss will play the Tennessee Lady Volunteers on Thursday, Oct. 4, at noon CST.
The game marks the second meeting between the Rebels and Lady Vols this season. Tennessee came away with a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Ole Miss earlier this season in Oxford.
