OXFORD, Miss. - Audra Adams, a standout junior tennis player from Newport Beach, Calif., signed a national letter of intent to attend Ole Miss beginning in the 2000-01 academic year, Lady Rebel head coach Jerry Montgomery announced Thursday.
"I am very pleased that Audra has signed a national letter of intent with Ole Miss," Montgomery said. "She has a great competitive spirit and an impressive work ethic, and I am confident that she will make a big contribution to our program."
Adams hails from Newport Harbor High School. She is rated as one of the top junior tennis players in Southern California. A highly competitive nationally-ranked Girls' 18 singles player, Adams was invited to play in three junior national championships this summer, the National Clay Courts in Memphis, Tenn., the National Hardcourts in San Jose, Calif., and the International Championships in Philadelphia, Pa.
"Audra's best tennis is definitely ahead of her and I'm excited about seeing her reach her potential here at Ole Miss and help us move toward our goal of winning a national championship," Montgomery added.
Ole Miss enjoyed one of its best seasons in 1999 winning the program's first ever SEC Tournament title and finishing ranked No. 6 in the nation in the final rankings.
