OXFORD, Miss. -- Wide receiver Cory Peterson of Germantown, Tenn., has been named as the Most Valuable Senior player of the Ole Miss Rebel football team as recognized by the Jackson (Miss.) Touchdown Club.
The Jackson Touchdown Club annually honors the Most Valuable Senior at each of Mississippi's senior colleges.
Peterson started all 11 games for Coach David Cutcliffe's Rebels this year, finishing the regular season with 46 receptions for 610 yards and four TDs -- all team highs. He also averaged 8.5 yards per punt return this season on 24 returns.
His 46 receptions is tied for the fourth highest single season total in school history and his 135 career receptions is second on the Ole Miss list. He ranks third in career receiving yards with 1,842.
Peterson has caught a pass in 21 straight games, including last December's Sanford Independence Bowl. He is the seventh player in school history to record 100 catches for a career.
