FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team cruised to a 77-43 win over San Jose State in the Northern Arizona Hilton Garden Inn Classic Monday night. The Lady Rebels improved to 8-1 on the year, while San Jose State dropped to 2-8.
All 14 players saw action, while 13 played at least 10 minutes. Junior Becky Myatt led the Lady Rebels with 13 points on 5-of-6 from the floor including three three-pointers. She also grabbed five rebounds and had four steals.
Ole Miss jumped out to a 39-20 halftime lead and it didn't take long for that lead to balloon in the second half as the Lady Rebels shot 48.4 percent from the floor and held San Jose State to 27.1 from the field. The Spartans had 24 turnovers and were outrebounded 42-30 by the Lady Rebels.
Senior Frankie Boyd finished with 10 points, four rebounds, one assist and two steals. Stephanie Murphy added eight points and six rebounds, while freshman Shayla Day chipped in seven points and six rebounds.
Natasha Johnson led the Spartans with 14 points, including four threes, and also recorded five rebounds.
The Lady Rebels will play Northern Arizona in the third game of the tournament Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. cst.
