Independence Bowl Sets Postgame Bash

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Fans attending the December 31 Independence Bowl XXIV clash between Ole Miss and Oklahoma will be able to ring in the New Year in high style while groovin' to the beat of a Louisiana band.

Once the game ends, the predicted 40,000 to 50,000 fans will be able to walk a few steps from Independence Stadium to Pershing Boulevard on the Fairgrounds and be serenaded, first by Trini Triggs (who will also sing the National Anthem), then by Louisiana LeRoux.

Here's the schedule for the evening:

4:30 - 5:30 p.m. - Crash Cadillac on stage
5:50 - 7:00 p.m. - Crash Cadillac back on stage
Approx. 11:00 p.m. - Trini Triggs on stage
11:50 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. - Countdown to the New Year
12 - 12:15 a.m. - Fireworks
12:15 - 2:00 a.m. - Louisiana LeRoux

The postgame bash is being sponsored by the Sanford Independence Bowl and the City of Shreveport with help from the Louisiana State Fairgrounds and the Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau. The party is free, but a $3 parking fee will be charged by the Fairgrounds.

Anyone not going to the Ole Miss-Oklahoma game who wants to come to the postgame party is welcome, but the Independence Bowl is encouraging them to use City shuttles (pick up at SouthPark and Pierre Bossier Malls), especially between the hours of 10:00 and 11:30 p.m. Parking spaces are limited and Shreveport Police will be working hard to get people out of Independence Stadium after the game. Slight delays are expected. Shuttles will begin making runs at 3:30 p.m., December 31, and will continue until 2:30 a.m. on January 1.

Tickets are still available for the Sanford Independence Bowl ancillary events (Boise Minuteman Luncheon, Mardi Gras Preview & Pep Rally and Sonic Red, White & Blue Tailgate Party). Tickets to those events may be purchased by calling 888-414-2695.
