Arkansas Takes Game Two 9-4

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Ninth-ranked Arkansas secured its seventh Southeastern Conference series victory of the season with a 9-4 win over No. 20 Ole Miss Saturday at Baum Stadium.
The win by Arkansas (34-18, 19-7 SEC) eliminated Auburn and Mississippi State from the SEC Western Division title race. Ole Miss (30-22, 15-11 SEC) must win Sunday's 1 p.m. series finale to sustain its hopes of an SEC Western Division crown.
Razorback starter Wes McCrotty (4-0) gave up four runs (all earned) on 10 hits, struck out four and walked one in 6 1/3 innings to earn the victory. Kevin Vent tossed 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for his fourth save of the season and second in as many appearances.
Starter Dan McShea (5-3) was the loser for the Rebels after giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Arkansas' Joe Jester and Ike Pohle extended their hitting streaks to 11 and eight games, respectively. Pohle went 2-for-4 and hit his third home run of the season.
Jude Voltz and Chad Hill led the Rebels with two hits each, including Voltz' 12th homer of the year. Ole Miss second baseman Brad Henderson extended his hitting streak to a career-best 17 games.
