OXFORD, Miss. - Brad Henderson's seventh-inning grand slam broke open a 5-2 game as Ole Miss went onto beat Alabama 10-3 and win the three-game Southeastern Conference series 2-1.
The Rebels (30-20, 15-9 SEC) scored a run in every inning from the fourth on, including two in the bottom of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie.
Robert Shelton and Chad Mead also homered in the game for the Rebels. Shelton's was a solo shot in the first to put Ole Miss up 1-0, and Mead's was also a shot to make it 2-0 in the fourth.
Freshman Nathan Lyons, 4-1, pitched five solid innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits and two walks to earn the win.
Sophomore Ronnie Goodwin pitched four innings of effective relief to earn his first career save.
Lance Cormier, 6-3, was tagged for the loss after allowing seven runs on six hits and five walks in four innings of relief.
Five Ole Miss starters recorded two hits each as the Rebels out-hit the Crimson Tide 11-9.
Alabama (36-14, 15-9 SEC) was led at the plate by Jeremy Brown and Darren Wood with two hits each.
The Crimson Tide tied the game in the fifth on Darren Wood's double down the right field line to score Derek Wigginton and Kelley Gulledge.
Ole Miss would re-take the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Jude Voltz hit a double down the right field line to score Mead and Burney Hutchinson.
The 15 SEC wins by Ole Miss ties the school record held by the 1972, 1977 and 1982 teams. The victory also gave the Rebels' back-to-back 30-win seasons and gave Ole Miss its fifth SEC series win of the season. The five series wins is the most for Ole Miss since winning six in 1995.
Ole Miss will have the week off before traveling to Arkansas on Friday to open a three- game SEC series with the SEC West Division leading Razorbacks.
Arkansas is 17-7 in the SEC after sweeping three games from Mississippi State this weekend in Fayetteville.
Ole Miss and Alabama are both in second-place in the SEC Western Division, two games behind Arkansas.
