OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 9 nationally-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team won four of the six singles and then swept the doubles to take a 7-2 win over 43rd-ranked LSU Wednesday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. The Lady Rebels improve to 10-3 overall, 3-1 in the SEC.

Mariana Eberle downed Tami Botts 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and freshman Alesya Ignatieva cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Mandy Rice at No. 6 singles to give Ole Miss a 2-0 lead. At the top spot, Agnes Muzamel lost the first set in her match to Ana Paula Mores, but turned it up a notch in the second and third sets for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win, giving the Lady Rebels a 3-0 lead.

LSU's Bruna Colosio handed junior Ivona Mihailova her first dual match loss of the season, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to make it 3-1. Celeste Frey put Ole Miss up 4-1, coming back to beat Fernanda Tscuamoto 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

The Lady Tigers' Nikki Rasheed, sister of former Rebel netter Charly Rasheed, held off Courtenay Chapman 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 4 singles to send the match into doubles.

Needing only one of three doubles matches to clinch the victory, the Mihailova twins, Ivona and Irena, got the job done at No. 3 doubles with a 8-4 win over Kelly Craycraft and Christine Weber.

The Lady Rebels posted 8-5 wins at the other two positions.

"Whenever we play LSU, there is always a lot of excitement," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "Give LSU credit for battling hard and really wanting to win. But, looking at my players, with both Agnes and Celeste winning 6-3 in the third and us sweeping the doubles, it boiled down to us raising our level of play and getting the job done." Ole Miss will host arch-rival Mississippi State Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. Incase of inclement weather the match will played at the Women's Sports Complex.
