Lady Rebel Netters Go 3-0 at Arizona Invite

TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 6 nationally-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team downed 24th-ranked Arizona 7-0 in the final match of the Arizona Invitational Sunday to capture the event for the second consecutive year. The Lady Rebels did not lose a match the entire weekend in also posting 7-0 wins over San Diego and Kansas State to start the season off 3-0. Agnes Muzamel, ranked No. 3 in the nation, showed why she is one of the top collegiate players as she dominated Monique Allegre 6-2, 6-0. On Friday she beat the No. 1 player in the country, Zuzana Lesenarova of San Diego.
At No. 2 singles, 21st-ranked Celeste Frey defeated Lindsay Blau 7-5, 7-6. On Saturday Frey won her 20th match of the year with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win over Anna Pampoulova of Kansas State. Ivona Mihailova, ranked 18th in the nation, downed ASUs Joanna Buczkowska 6- 0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
Courtenay Chapman didnt lose a set all weekend as she beat Vanessa Abel 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, while Mariana Eberle bested Carly Stringer 6-3, 6-4 to close out a solid performance at the fifth spot. Freshman Aleysa Ignatieva posted three wins in her dual match debut, finshing off with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Laresa Marino.
Ole Miss won the doubles point as twin sisters Ivona and Irena Mihailova downed Taylor and Marino 8-3 at No. 3 doubles, and Muzamel and Chapman cruised to a 8-2 win over Abel and Stringer at No. 2 doubles.
