Lady Rebel Netters Open Season with a Bang

TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 6 nationally-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team opened the spring season with a bang, Friday as they cruised to a 7-0 win over 33rd-ranked San Diego in the Arizona Invitational.
The Lady Rebels will meet Kansas State in the second round tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. The Wildcats lost to host Arizona 5-2. Ole Miss is attempting to win the Arizona Invitational for the second year in a row.
Agnes Muzamel, ranked No. 3 in the nation, knocked off the No. 1 player in the country, Zuzana Lesenarova 6-3, 6-7, 6-2. Newcomer Celeste Frey, ranked 21st in the nation, dominated Anja Tragardh at the No.2 position 6-0, 6-1. She improves her overall record to 19-7 and is one win away from becoming the first Lady Rebel to win 20 matches this season.
At No.3 singles, 14th-ranked Ivona Mihailova lost the first set to Katarina Valkyova 5-7, and came back to win the second 6-3, before Valkyova defaulted down 2-0 in the third. Courtenay Chapman defeated Paola Arrangoiz 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, Mariana Eberle downed Krista Manning 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and freshman Aleysa Ignatieva cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win over Stacie Lee at the sixth spot.
Ole Miss won all three doubles matches for the 7-0 win.
