Men's Golf in Seventh After First Round

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Rebel junior Jon Bartlett fired a five-over par 77 to pace the Ole Miss effort in the first round of the Southeastern Men's Golf Championships on Friday. The tournament is being held at the par-72 Champion Trace Golf Course.
The Rebels are in seventh place after the first round, carding a 326. Georgia leads the field with a score of 307, followed by Florida in second at 308. First-round play was hampered by wind gusts of more than 40 mph and wind chills in the 20s.
Bartlett was the Rebels' top first-round finisher with his 77. Senior Haymes Snedeker is the only other Rebel who placed among the top 20 golfers. Snedeker is tied for 19th, as he carded an 80.
Sophomore Troy Muller is tied for 38th with an 84, while junior Chris Malloy fired an 85. Malloy is tied for 44th. Sophomore Phil Caravia is tied for 56th with a 90.
LSU's Jeremy Wilkinson is atop the leader board after round one with an even-par 72.
The SEC Championships continue with second-round action on Saturday.
