OXFORD, Miss. -- Senior Agnes Muzamel rallied from a set down to defeat South Alabama's Martina Ondrejkova to clinch a 6-3 win for the No. 8 nationally-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team Tuesday, at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. The Lady Rebels improve to 16-4 overall.

The Lady Rebels have now won four in a row over 26th-ranked South Alabama, who drops to 11-6 with the loss. Ole Miss improves to 8-1 at home this year with one match remaining at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center, against Alabama on Sunday.

Ole Miss quickly jumped out to a 3-1 lead with wins at Nos. 2, 6 and 4 singles. Celeste Frey dominated Iva Puflerova 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Freshman Alesya Ignatieva captured her sixth match in a row with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Carolina Toyre at No. 6 singles and Ivona Mihailova downed Vanda Novakova 6-2, 6-1 at the third spot.

In the only singles loss of the day for the Lady Rebels, South Alabama's Lenka Jakubekova beat Courtenay Chapman 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles to make it 3-1. Mariana Eberle held off Marketa Blazkova in the second set for a 6-1, 7-6(4) win to put Ole Miss up 4-1.

With the Lady Rebels needing only one match to clinch the victory, Muzamel stepped up as she has done on many occasions in her illustrious career. Down a break (3-4) in the deciding set, Muzamel won the next three games for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over the Jaguars' Ondrejkova and the clinching the point. Muzamel inched closer to becoming the all-time career singles leader at Ole Miss, now needing six more victories to accomplish the feat.

"As we expected, South Alabama is a talented and dangerous team," head coach Jerry Montgomery said. "They demonstrated that today, especially in doubles. We played very solid in singles. Agnes did a great job of closing out the match for us by winning the clinching point at No. 1 singles."

South Alabama won two of the three doubles matches to make the final score 6-3.

The Lady Rebels travel to Auburn, Ala., Friday, for a 2:00 p.m. match against the Auburn Tigers before returning home to host Alabama Sunday, in the final regular season match.
