OXFORD, Miss. --The Ole Miss baseball team inked its first signee of the early fall signing period in Evan Conley, of Bradenton, Fla., third-year head coach Pat Harrison announced Monday.

Conley, a six-foot-one, 175-pound, right-hander, plays both shortstop and pitcher for Brandenton Manatee High School. He has been a Florida Class 6A All-State selection the past two seasons, and is currently quarterbacking Brandenton's football team.

Last spring as a junior, Conley posted a .418 batting average with three home runs, and had an 11-2 mark on the mound with a 2.50 ERA.

"We're extremely happy to be able to sign a player of Evan's caliber during the early signing period," Harrison said. "He's a super athlete, and he will pitch and play the field here."

Ole Miss is coming off a 30-23 season in which they finished the year ranked No. 29 in the final NCAA RPI rankings. The Rebels are scheduled to return six position starters this spring, including second team All-SEC second baseman Brad Henderson.
