OLE MISS OPENS FIVE-GAME HOMESTAND TONIGHT VS. SE MISSOURI STATE

Ole Miss will open a week long, five-game homestand tonight when the Rebels host SE Missouri State at 5:00 p.m. at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. Tonights game will be the first of a two-game set between the Rebels and Indians. The two teams will conclude their mid-week series tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. Ole Miss will then host South Alabama in a three-game weekend series starting Friday at 3:00 p.m.

SCOUTING SE MISSOURI STATE
SE Missouri State comes into tonights game with a 1-2 record after opening its season this past weekend with a three-game series versus Creighton in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Junior infielder Darin Kinsolving is leading the Indians in hitting with a .556 average after going 5-for-9 this weekend. Senior OF Charlie Marino leads the team in RBI, driving in two of the Indians four runs this past weekend. Marino also has SEMOs lone home run of the year.

SERIES NOTES
Tonights meeting will be only the fifth ever between SEMO and Ole Miss, with the Rebels having won all four previous contests. The two schools first met back in 1996 with the Rebels earning a 7-6 win in Oxford. Ole Miss swept the Indians last year in Oxford to open the season, winning 7-4, 4-3, and 15-9.

TONIGHTS STARTING PITCHERS
Junior right-hander Dan McShea is expected to make his first start of the year tonight for Ole Miss. McShea has appeared in three games in relief for the Rebels, and is 0-0 with a 8.44 ERA in 5.1 innings of work. McShea has allowed five earned runs on six hits and three walks and has struck out one. His last appearance was Sunday against LSU, pitching an inning and allowing two earned runs on three hits. SEMO is tentatively slated to start senior right-hander Daniel Rodriguez. It would be Rodriguezs first action of the season.

REVIEWING THE WINN-DIXIE SHOWDOWN
Ole Miss dropped its first game in this past weekends Winn-Dixie Showdown in New Orleans, La., 8-6 to Tulane. The Rebels then rebounded to take a 12-2 win over New Orleans in Saturdays game. Junior OF Michael Rosamond went 4-for-5 in the game and set a school record and tied the SEC and NCAA records with three triples. RHP Joey Cramblitt earned the win, allowing two earned runs on five hits and a walk in seven innings of work. LSU hit three home runs in Sundays game to power its way to a 5-1 win over the Rebels.

HARRISON VS. NON-CONFERENCE OPPONENTS
Ole Miss has fared pretty well versus non-conference opponents under third-year head coach Pat Harrison. With Tuesdays win over Austin Peay, the Rebels are 36-19 (.655) versus non-conference opponents under Harrison. Ole Miss is 3-4 this season in non-conference games, and went 17-8 in 1997, and 16-7 in Harrisons first year in 1996.

ROSAMOND TIES NATIONAL MARK IN SATURDAYS GAME VS. UNO
Junior OF Michael Rosamond set an Ole Miss single-game record and tied the SEC and NCAA single-game records by hitting three triples in Saturdays game versus New Orleans. After singling in his first at-bat in the second and flying out to right in the third, Rosamond tripled in consecutive at-bats in the fourth, seventh and eighth innings. Ten different Ole Miss players had tripled twice in a game with current Arizona Diamondback David Dellucci that last to do so back in 1995 against Southern Illinois. Alabamas Ken Chapman recorded three triples against Samford in 1960 and Stuart Driscoll of Tennessee hit three triples against Carson-Newman back in 1975. The 1999 NCAA Baseball Record Book lists "many others" as being tied with three triples in a game.

THREE REBELS NAMED TO THE ALL-WINN DIXIE TOURNAMENT TEAM
Senior 2B Brad Henderson, junior OF Michael Rosamond, and junior 1B Jude Voltz were selected to this past weekends Winn-Dixie Showdown All-Tournament team. Henderson batted .615 in the three-day tournament, going 8-for-13 with four RBI. Rosamond set an Ole Miss school single-game record and tied the SEC and NCAA single-game marks by recording three triples in Saturdays 12-2 win over New Orleans. For the weekend, Rosamond went 5-for-14 with a double, three triples and a RBI. Voltz, a native of Metairie, La., went 7-for-12 in his homecoming weekend. Against Tulane on Friday in the tournament opener, recorded his first career four-hit game as he went 4-for-5 with a RBI.

STREAKS AND SUCH
Senior OF/DH Chad Mead currently is riding a seven-game hitting streak, tying his longest hitting streak at Ole Miss ... Junior 1B Jude Voltz went 7-for-12 this weekend at the Winn-Dixie Showdown and recorded his first four-hit game Friday versus Tulane ... Dating back to last season, the Rebels have won 23 straight when leading after eight innings. Ole Miss was 20-0 last season when leading after eight innings of play ... Newcomers Craig Nugen and Adam Brown recorded their first career home runs Saturday against New Orleans. Browns home run came in his first collegiate at-bat ... Freshman OF Kris Cox saw his first action in a Rebel uniform Saturday against Privateers, going 1-for-2 and scoring a run ... Freshman INF Glen Morris doubled in his first at-bat Sunday versus LSU ... Senior 2B Brad Henderson surpassed Richy Harrelson (1993-96) for sixth-place on the Ole Miss career list for hits with 209. Henderson scored two runs this past weekend to give him 144 for his career and is now six runs away from tying Jason Huisman (1995-98) for third-place on the schools career list. Henderson is also two doubles shy of tying Kyle Gordon and Chris Snopek for sixth-place on the Rebels career list for doubles with 41, and ranks fourth on the schools career list for home runs with 29 and is eighth in career RBI with 116.

ELEVEN TEAMS FROM THE 1998 NCAA TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHT REBELS 1999 SLATE
Ole Miss will face 11 schools this season that qualified for the 1998 NCAA Tournament, including College World Series participants Florida, LSU and Mississippi State. The other NCAA Tournament qualifiers from last year on the Rebels 1999 schedule are: Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Baylor, SE Missouri State, South Alabama, South Carolina, and Tulane.

ROSAMOND, HENDERSON EARN PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA HONORS
Senior 2B Brad Henderson and junior OF Michael Rosamond have been named 1999 preseason All-Americans. Henderson, a second team All-SEC pick last season, was named to the third team Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America team by Collegiate Baseball newspaper, and Rosamond earned third team preseason All-America honors by Baseball America.

NCAA TOURNAMENT EXPANDS TO 64 TEAMS
Starting this season, the NCAA Regionals will expand by 16 teams from 48 to 64. Sixteen four-team regionals will be played Memorial Day weekend (May 28-30) at campus sites. The winners of those 16 regionals will then advance to the new Super Regionals for a best-of-three series June 4-5. The eight Super Regional winners will then move on to Omaha, Neb. for the College World Series, June 11-19 at Rosenblatt Stadium.

5- Banks Robinson (Fr., INF): Played in three games ... is 2-for-2 on the season ... singled off of Baylors Justin Taylor in his first collegiate bat last Friday ... transferred to Ole Miss after redshirting last season at the University of Florida.

6- Jude Voltz (Jr., 1B): Has started all seven games at first base ... went 7-for-12 this weekend in New Orleans to raise his average to .375 (9-for-24) ... was named to the Winn-Dixie Showdown All-Tournament team ... has two doubles, two RBI and has scored three runs this season.

9- Adam Brown (Fr., INF): Has played in four games ... is 1-for-1 with a HR, a RBI and two runs scored ... homered in his first collegiate at-bat Saturday versus UNO at the Winn-Dixie Showdown ... 1998 FACA All-Florida All-Star selection ... hit .394 his senior year with five HRs and 32 RBI at John I. Leonard H.S. in West Palm Beach, Fla.

10- Chad Hill (Jr., OF): Started in center and batted in the lead-off spot all seven games this season ... has gotten off to a slow start, batting .233 (7-for-30) with a triple, three RBI and six runs scored ... is 1-for-2 in stolen bases ... led the Central Illinois Collegiate League in SBs this summer with 32 while playing for the Quincy Gems.

13- Alex Williamson (Sr., OF): Has played in four games, making one start ... is 2-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored ... went 7-for-17 as a pinch-hitter in 1998.
