Ole Miss Volleyball Team Defeats LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. - Kira Zschau had a career-high 19 kills to lead the Ole Miss volleyball team over LSU on Sunday by scores of 15-13, 13-15, 11-15, 15-13 and 15-12 for the Lady Rebels' first Southeastern Conference win of the year. Ole Miss improved to 7-11 overall and 1-5 in the SEC, while LSU dropped to 9-9 overall and 1-4 in the SEC.

Anna Hackbarth and Jaime Burns added 11 kills each, while Lauren Dorcheus led the Lady Rebels in digs with 16. Lisa Frannino had 14 digs, and Kari Elggren and Hackbarth chipped in 13 digs each.

Dorcheus led Ole Miss with nine blocks--three block solos and six block assists--as the Lady Rebels recorded 18 team blocks, compared to seven for LSU.

LSU was led by Lauren Cuyler with 26 kills, followed by Meg Norwood with 23 kills and 24 digs and Kelly Thompson with 19 kills and 17 digs.

Ole Miss returns to Oxford to host Louisiana Tech Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Lady Rebels return to SEC action with Alabama on Friday at 7 p.m. and Auburn on Sunday at 2 p.m.
