Rebel Baseball Powers Past Vanderbilt, 13-5

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Brad Henderson, Justin Huisman and Michael Rosamond all hit home runs to lead the Ole Miss Rebels to a 13-5 win over Vanderbilt in a Southeastern Conference baseball game Saturday afternoon at McGugin Field in Nashville.
The win was the Rebels' (16-14, 7-4 SEC) 10th in their last 13 games, and clinched their first series win in Nashville since taking two-of-three from Vanderbilt back in 1991.
Henderson hit a three-run home run in the second to put the Rebels up 5-3. He finished the day 3-for-5 with five RBIs as he moved into a third-place tie with former All-American and current Arizona Diamondback David Dellucci on the Ole Miss career hit list with 247.
The Rebels scored four more in the third, highlighted by Huisman's three-run shot, to make it 9-3, and Rosamond stretched the Ole Miss lead to 11-3 with a two-run home run in the fifth.
Dan McShea, 4-1, went five innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits and one walk to earn the win.
Mike Byrd, 2-4, suffered the loss for Vanderbilt (13-16, 2-9 SEC), allowing nine runs, eight earned, one six hits and four walks.
Rosamond also tallied three hits and freshman Kris Cox went 2-for-4 as the Rebels out- hit the Commodores 15-6.
The two teams will conclude their three-game series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. Ole Miss can earn its first road sweep of a SEC opponent since sweeping a three-game set from Kentucky back in 1986 with a win tomorrow.
