PRINCETON, N.J. - The Ole Miss men's tennis team is ranked No. 14 in the second spring edition of the Rolex National Collegiate Rankings, released Tuesday. Four players are among the top 100 in singles.

This edition of the spring ranking was based on the ITA's average points-per-match formula and includes matches through March 15. Therefore, it does not include the Rebels' wins this past week over LSU, Florida and South Florida.

UCLA held on to the top spot, while Illinois, Baylor, Stanford, SMU, Texas, Duke, Florida, Alabama and Southern California rounded out the top 10.

"This rankings reflects the parity in college tennis this year," head coach Billy Chadwick said. "There are 15 to 20 very good teams with a legitimate chance to do well at the NCAAs. The final poll is the one that counts. We know every match is important and we have our sights set on the SEC Championship."

In the individual rankings, sophomore James Shortall is ranked No. 31 in singles. He has a 30-11 overall record, 9-6 at the No. 1 position. Shortall is one win shy of reaching 50 victories for his career.

Anders Stenman is ranked No. 57, Martin Selin is No. 65, and Martin Sjoqvist is No. 89. Selin is 10-4 in dual matches, including 5-1 at No. 5 singles. Sjoqvist owns a 13-2 dual match record and has won seven in a row.

Shortall and Sjoqvist are ranked No. 9 in doubles with a 14-3 overall record. They have won 10 of their last 12 matches at No. 1 doubles.

This marks the first time in five years, that the Rebels have not been among the nation's top 10.

The Rebels host 13th-ranked Georgia and 11th-ranked South Carolina this weekend in a pair of key SEC matches in the race for the SEC Championship. Friday they will meet Georgia at 1:30 p.m., and then Sunday they welcome South Carolina at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will be at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
