KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The eighth-ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team got solid production at the top four singles spots to defeat 23rd-ranked Tennessee 4-1 Thursday. The Rebels improve to 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the SEC, while snapping the Volunteers (8-2, 3-2) eight-match winning streak.

Tennessee took a 1-0 lead in the match after winning the doubles point. They swept all three doubles positions. Sebastien DeChaunac and Martin Sjoqvist lost to Chad Copenhaver and Mark Way 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Sebastien Lami and Vikrant Chada dropped an 8-5 decision to Paul Podbury and Juan Gamboa at No. 2 doubles. At three doubles, James Shortall and Barry Hassell fell to Mark Fitzpatrick and Mark Parsons 8-4.

DeChaunac evened the match at 1-1 after he defeated Way 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. He has now won 26 of his last 27 SEC matches and has only lost one SEC match in the last two years.

Sjoqvist lost the first set in his match against Fitzpatrick at No. 3 singles, but came back to win 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 to give Ole Miss a 2-1 lead. Chada defeated Copenhaver 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at No. 4 singles as the Rebels pulled out to a 3-1 advantage. Chada has won six in a row and eight of his last nine matches.
