AUBURN, Ala. -- Sophomore pitcher Amanda Fine threw a complete-game, three-hit shutout in the first game, then Tiger pitcher Erika Koivula followed it with a complete-game shutout of her own as the Ole Miss fastpitch team split a Southeastern Conference doubleheader with Auburn Saturday in Auburn, Ala.

Ole Miss captured the first game 4-0 before Auburn responded with a 8-0, mercy-run rule victory in the second game.

"Obviously, we wanted to come away with two wins today," Ole Miss coach Joyce Maudie said. "I thought we played a great game to begin the day, but we made some costly errors in the second game that really hurt us. Hopefully we can come back with two wins tomorrow.

Fine did not allow a Tiger past first base as she won her third-straight start, and senior April Caraway drove in two runs as the Rebels posted a 4-0 win. Sophomore Mandy Shklar also went 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Ole Miss.

In the second contest, Auburn scored four runs in the fourth inning and added another four in the fifth and sixth innings while capitalizing on three Rebel errors.

Ole Miss is now 22-36 overall and 5-16 in the SEC while Auburn moves to 14-30, 4-11 in conference play.

The Rebels and Tigers will play the second half of the four-game series Sunday, starting at noon.
